FIGHT GONE BAD, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH AT 1:00PM

Fight Gone Bad began as a fundraising event in 2006. From those humble beginnings and with the support of the CrossFit community, we’ve proven what a small, totally committed group of people can accomplish. The first four editions of Fight Gone Bad have raised a combined total of more than $2 million.
Fight Gone Bad 5 opens its arms to benefit three charities this year: LIVESTRONG, Wounded Warrior Project and the CrossFit Foundation.
Fight Gone Bad 5 takes place on Saturday, September 25, 2010.
The event can take place at any CrossFit Affiliate facility between 6am and 4pm.
The event format is the Fight Gone Bad CrossFit format:
In this workout you move from each of five stations after a minute. This is a five-minute round from which a one-minute break is allowed before repeating. The event is in the 3 round format. The stations are:
- Wall-ball: 20 pound ball, 10 ft target. (Reps)
- Sumo deadlift high-pull: 75 pounds (Reps)
- Box Jump: 20″ box (Reps)
- Push-press: 75 pounds (Reps)
- Row: calories (Calories)
The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. On call of “rotate,” the athlete/s must move to next station immediately for good score. One point is given for each rep, except on the rower where each calorie is one point.
Awards are given on Individual, National, and Regional levels.
Individuals who raise $150 or more will receive an Official FGB 5 Event T-shirt after the event.
There are two divisions eligible for awards on the National and Regional levels:
- Affiliates with 25 or less Team Members.
- Affiliates with 26 or more Team Members.
National: The highest fundraising Affiliate in each division will receive a Grand Prize Package from our sponsors.
Regional: The highest fundraising Affiliate in each region in each division will receive a Traveling Trophy with their Affiliate name, the event name and the year they won on the plaque.
WOMEN’S 1/2 MARATHON: SEPT 25TH, NASHVILLE

The WOMEN’s 1/2 MARATHON takes place SEPTEMBER 25th here in NASHVILLE. The course will be slightly different than the Country Music 1/2 Marathon. This is for WOMEN ONLY! It is the first time this race has rolled into our town.

We can have more than 1 team for CFIT HVILLE if needed. You girls talk amongst yourselves, post to comments if you want to be part of a team, and get to training!
Make sure you get our training schedule the coaches at CrossFit HVille have designed and get on the email list, as well. Looking forward to running with you ladies!

“EAT YOUR BEST” CHALLENGE: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 20TH-NOVEMBER 12TH

Whether you have never participated in a challenge or have participated in all of them this one is for you! New info coming to those of you who sign up. Challenge begins on Monday, the 20th. We will take pictures the week before (Sept 13th-18th)and get some numbers down for you, as far as weight, body fat %, and measurements go. Remember, the Fitness Wave Tank will be here that week to take the MOST ACCURATE body fat % you can get. Remember to get in contact with Coach Lindsey if you are interested in getting in on the body fat testing through the Fitness Wave Hydrostatic Weighing Tank. The Challenge will finish up on November 12th where winners (top male and female, plus “Most Ripped Up” partcipant) will receive their CASH and 1 HOUR MASSAGES!
Rather than hosting a Nutrition Seminar, coaches will be meeting with athletes one-on-one or in small groups to discuss nutrition information and ways to allow yourself to succeed during these 8 weeks and ultimately for the rest of your life! Talk to the coaches to get a time set up for you or you and a buddy or two. The nutrition consultations will cost $50/person and last 1 hour. Call to find out more info about a discounted price for meeting with a small group. You can still visit the Whole 9 registration page to get the best info out there! Set yourself up for success by getting educated on nutrition, training, sleep, stress management, active recovery, injury rehab, fun and play, personal growth, and temperance.

WHOLE 9 FOUNDATIONS OF NUTRITION WORKSHOP, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH, 9 AM-4 PM
Join Dallas Hartwig and Melissa Urban, founders of Whole9, for a practical, straightforward, interactive discussion on the important role nutrition plays in your overall health and fitness. We’re in the process of adding two hours of new material, so you can take your nutritional know-how from the classroom to the lunch room, and everywhere in between! (The new material is highlighted below, and will be introduced in San Diego, CA on August 29, 2010. Check our sidebar to see which Fall 2010 events were booked for the full six hours.)
In our new Foundations of Nutrition Workshop, you’ll learn:
- The good, bad and ugly side of how your food choices affect your metabolism, health and longevity
- How certain food groups are negatively impacting how you look, feel and perform, even if you don’t immediately notice their effects
- What you should be eating to look, feel and perform your best – and why you don’t really need to weigh and measure all your food to achieve excellent results
- A fool-proof meal planning template to help you manage meals, snacks and pre- and post-workout nutrition (including recommendations, examples and recipes)
- Discussion of common errors – ways to get it wrong when you’re doing everything right
- The best way to incorporate “cheats” into your diet, enjoying the foods you really want without compromising your overall health and fitness goals
- And most importantly… how to break unhealthy patterns, habits and cravings related to food, and change the way you eat for the rest of your life in a healthy, balanced, satisfying and sustainable manner
Want to hear more about our workshops? Check out what Robb Wolf has to say about us!

Athletes of CrossFit Hendersonville are developing a new WHITEWATER RAFTING ADVENTURE every August. Last year we took a large group down the Middle Ocoee, but this year we tackled the Full Ocoee River, which was a blast! The Full Ocoee included the Olympic Course plus more Class IV and V rapids that threw some people off their raft! No worries though, being thrown off was all part of the WILD ride that we asked for. Join us next summer for another trip down the OCOEE. It’s always a different ride! Here are some pics from our most recent trip…

FACTION GAMES: AUGUST 7-8TH, MEMPHIS

The FACTION GAMES are being held at SHELBY FARMS in Memphis on AUGUST 7th and 8th. This is a CROSSFIT STYLE COMPETITION, similar to the 300 FITNESS GAMES which were held a couple weekends ago at the FMC.
Want to put your fitness up to the test? This competition will draw CrossFitters from all over the Southeast. Sign-ups are taking place now. There are divisions for BEGINNERS and ADVANCED, so everyone can participate.
There is also a 5K run to kick off the games. If you have no desire to compete, but want to go on a lil’ road trip and support CrossFit Hendersonville athletes, then you could sign up for the 5K run.
Anyone want to go ahead and commit? These games would be a great goal for many of you and of course it would be a good time with friends! These games are 7 weeks away, so perfect timing to start focusing your training and setting goals for this competition. Workouts will not be announced until the week of the 7th/8th. For this reason, no one will have the training advantage!
BE PREPARED FOR THE UNKNOWN AND UNKNOWABLE!

300 FITNESS GAMES: JUNE 5TH, HENDERSONVILLE
2 SECOND PLACE FINISHES FOR CROSSFIT H’VILLE ATHLETES!
Athletes, Julie Alexander and Billy Shelton, teamed up with coaches, Jason and Lindsey, to take home 2 red ribbon medals this weekend at the 300 Fitness Games. This event was hosted by Mark Lowry with Fit Foundation in order to spread awareness and raise money for STOP OBESITY NOW.
Lauren Springer, Lauren Randalls, Jessica Shelton, and Laura McDougan represented the other 2 teams HVille brought in to the competition. All of our teams worked extremely hard during the entire 3 workouts. The workouts were spread over a couple hours, with a variety of movements involving thrusters, pull-ups, box jumps, weighted sprints, push-ups, 200m runs, knees to elbow, and kettlebell swings.
Thanks to those of you who came out to support our athletes! The cheers and motivation you guys gave helped our athletes push through the sweat, pain, and breathlessness you guys all know and love during CrossFit WOD’s.
I’m super proud of our athletes for competing and representing our affiliate extremely well. Look forward to another 300 Fitness Games this fall, plus other events to come in the meantime.
