UPDATES FOR THE WEEK:

PALEO PARTICIPANTS:

Bring your Food Logs in Monday/Tuesday.  I will give feedback if needed or if you ask for it. Otherwise, know that everything looks good and keep at it for another week.

I will be emailing your profile pictures to you today and tomorrow.  Glance at these every once in awhile for a little motivation!

ALL ATHLETES:

Have you been training your weaknesses? Do you even know what your weaknesses are? A good place to start is our Athletic Skills chart. It lists just about everything we do as CrossFitters, and our estimation of what a Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert CrossFitter should be able to do. Lets face it, you probably already knew the general areas you’re weak in, but this chart helps you get really specific. Lets hear it – what are some of the things you need the most work on?

ATHLETIC SKILLS LEVEL TESTING went really well this week with the MILE RUN and DEADLIFT.  You guys should be proud of your accomplishments!  Everyone hit 3/4 bodyweight Deadlift and there were many Level 2 and one Level 3 Athlete mile runners.

We are going to take the rest of February to work on our skills testing.  Let’s see some of our goals circled on the goal board!  If you get your goal, don’t erase it, rather circle it and be proud!  Then, jot another one down.  There is still room for more people to write a new goal.  This helps you remember what to work on while your in the gym.

INTRO SESSIONS:

A new group of CrossFitters will be starting their journey next Monday, Feb 15th.  If you know anyone who has been thinking about trying CrossFit, bring them with you to a class this week and let them experience what we do!  Then, they will be ready to jump in with Intro sessions the following week.  We have 3 spots available for those sessions, so sign up soon!  More details about those sessions under “How To Start.”  Remember, 1/2 off your monthly rate for every referral you bring into the CrossFit family!

NUTRITION:

We concluded our WEEK OF FATS with a good overview from Mark’s Daily Apple and now we will be jumping into Dairy this week.  With more than 30 of you doing the Paleo Challenge, I thought you might enjoy reading about the issues with dairy.  This information is to help you make a decision as to what you will fuel your body with daily.

WHAT ABOUT KID’S???  HOW DO I FEED THEM???

I get this question all the time and honestly I can’t give a great answer because I haven’t been in the shoes of a parent.  I can give my opinion and what I am going to do with my kids, but I know people are thinking…”Yea, right!  She doesn’t even have kids yet, how does she know how hard it is to get them to eat real food!”  Therefore, I thought I would take you to a resource that has been very helpful to me even without kids!  The site is called EVERYDAY PALEO and the writer is a mom of 3 and an avid CrossFitter.  This specific article discusses her ideas on how to fuel her kids for the day!  Click here to read. Below is a picture of a lunch box almost ready to go.
