WHAT IS GOING ON AT CROSSFIT HENDERSONVILLE?



Karen Flowers and Kathy Smith, who just had a Birthday last week, out having some FUN in the snow! Climbing back up that hill was nothin’ for them after months of CrossFittin’!

INTRO SESSIONS:
The new Intro course starts tomorrow evening at 5:00pm. We have filled this class up, therefore anyone wanting to join the CrossFit Hendersonville gang, Feb 15th will be your start date. The Intro classes run for 2 weeks or 4 classes. For anyone who has missed an Intro session, please let me know when you can make up your missed Intro session.
NUTRITION EVENTS:
Monday, Feb 1st, at 6:15 pm, which is tomorrow evening, I will be repeating the Nutrition Seminar from Thursday for those who couldn’t attend and were planning on coming to the Saturday Seminar. We will talk Paleo, Zone, and why in the world you would want to change your lifestyle of eating? If you haven’t made a seminar yet, find time to spend an hour educating yourself. $10 is the fee for those of you attending, but not participating in challenge.
Saturday, Feb 6th, after the morning WOD at 9:00am I will host a “Q and A” for the nutrition challenge. This will not be a lecture, but a more laid back discussion. Any questions you have regarding the challenge, certain foods, block #’s, etc. throw them at me. I may not have all the answers, but I will help as much as I can. By the way, I am still reading up on lectins in Greek yogurt! I will get back to those of you who asked that question.
After the “Q and A” I will be heading down to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods to buy some groceries. Anyone wanting to join me is welcome. We can carpool down or you can drive on your own. I plan on walking through the stores, stocking up on items I need that I can’t find out in Hville or are better priced there, and bringing it on home. We will set our departure time for 10:00am, but if we finish up the nutrition talk before then we will plan on heading out as soon as that is finished.
Haven’t had much response yet from those of you wanting to take a local grocery store field trip.
Which dates works better, Thursday Feb 4th or Tuesday Feb 9th? Kroger or Publix?

SKILLS TESTING:
We still have 2 more weeks to work on your SKILLS! Get to the gym early, stay late, come on Saturdays, come at an off time, whenever and keep crossing them off the list. Let’s get as many HVille CrossFitters as we can moving on to LEVEL 2 ATHLETES. For those that have a skill or 2 limiting you from moving on from Level 1, I want to see your name on the GOAL BOARD and you working on that skill that is holding you back. Remember, all of these skills teach functional fitness. What does functional mean? These movements occur in nature. Which means you will need them in some form or fashion at one point in your life!
FOCUS ON FATS:
This week we will be focusing on the macronutrient, FATS. I will be posting articles about the different types of fat that SHOULD and SHOULD NOT be in your daily intake of food. Post to comments questions you have regarding fats.
1/2 MARATHON TRAINING:
Thursday morning INTERVAL run with Doug Warren at TBA, 5:00am.
Friday morning INTERVAL run with Chad Jacobs at HHS, 5:30am.

Keep getting your runs in! I hear training is going well for most of you. Keep me up to date on how your runs are going.

The gym will be getting a new piece of equipment, called the GHD this month, so get your hamstrings, glutes, low back, and entire torso excited about that!!! Therefore, I will be ordering a few more misc. items so if you want something let me know and I will send it through with this order.
