AFTER THAT CHEAT NIGHT…
Categories: Lifestyle, Nutrition, Nutrition Challenge Posted: 24 October, 2009
I assume all of you indulged in something non-Paleo last night. If not, good for you! Keep living the Paleo lifestyle. If you did cheat, I hope it was enjoyable, but just for one night.
The 40 days are over, however that does not mean you throw away everything you learned in the past 6 weeks. You worked hard to get where you are. Don’t go back to square one. Here is my advice…
You owe it to yourself to see what foods work best to fuel YOUR body. Everyone is different. Find out for yourself. For the next 1-2 weeks, introduce a food group back into your diet slowly. I would suggest legumes first. Pay attention to how you feel, look, and perform after eating this food group. Then, you will be able to tell if that food causes you to feel tired, bloated, achy, etc. After you have experimented with one food group, try adding dairy or wheat back in. ONLY ONE FOOD CATEGORY AT A TIME! You don’t want to ruin your own self experiment by eating all the foods you have taken out of your diet in one meal. This should be a great learning experience. Share your discoveries with me, keep trying new recipes, and get ready to help the people out who are going to try PALEO in November for our next challenge.

Admittedly, my paleo days were not perfect, but I must say, I have more energy to keep up with my kiddos these days! I don’t know how single moms can do it, especially, if they eat fast food all the time. I indulged in maggie moo’s, a small, but good ice cream treat, and the next day had a horrible migraine. I think I need to test if it was sugar or dairy. Either way, I think my cheat days will be few and far between. I hate migraines, but I hate not being able to spend quality time with the kids even more. Thanks Lindsey for your advice and for kicking my tush every week!
